(Intro)
In recent studies of concierge and membership practices, if a patient is provided unrestricted (no insurance restrictions of office co-pays of reaching a deductible) access to a primary care physician it directly correlates to a significant reduction in the use of ERs and admittances to the hospital. This number varies depending on the area, but an average 70-80% reduction in use of ERs and hospital admittance can be realized. Additionally, once a patient is admitted into the hospital, they are discharged from the hospital almost 90% faster. With no surprise, these statistics show if NCM Members have the ability to seek medical attention for preventive reasons or any occurrence that needs medical treatment (sick visits), they can drastically reduce any hospital or other catastrophic costs that come with in-patient services (hospital services).
